Shijian Chinese Folded Steel Pattern Blade Rosewood Handmade Diamond Bronze Ruyi Han Sword

Quite a nice sword. I love rosewood, and this sword has a fair bit. The handle is a bit thick, but well sized for my big hands. It is a bit heavy for it's size, though very handy and well balanced. It's short blade makes it ideal for close in work. The blade is essentially a Japanese Ninjato, with Chinese embellishments. The folded pattern, called "damascus" by some, is finely done and attractive. The edge is pretty sharp as delivered and cuts paper well, though can be honed to a razor edge. Overal all feel is tight and solid, no rattle or looseness of components. The designwork on the guard, pommel and fittings are well and finely done, giving this sword some real class. The scabbard is heavy, and would make a stout parrying weapon or club. I have several of the Chinese swords from LQ, and this one is my favorite. A very good value for the price!

I asked to have this come with an unsharpened blade as i intend to use this in training / demonstration. The custom unsharpened blade did delay the shipping as the seller informed in advance, but was still delivered from China in less than a month. It was also very well packaged.Like the other review, I like the fact that this blade is of medium length and very well balanced. Given the price range of this, the quality is much higher than i expected. It performs very well for my purposes. I am not and will not be striking targets with this, so i can not give you and opinion on durability. This said the sword is solidly built. Everything is very tightly put together. Even the sheath fits/secures nicely with the sword. Overall looks mirror the pictures above.Overall I am very happy with this purchase.

Overall, fantastic sword. Far sharper than previous swords I've gotten from Shijian on both edges and tip. The folded pattern is distinct and beautiful; you can clearly see the ripples both on the flat of the blade as well as the bevels. I had an engraving done, which is also quite not, albeit tricky to pick up on a camera due to how fine it is. My only gripe is that the top cap of the scabbard where the blade sheathes has loosened from the wooden portion of the scabbard. This I suspect is due to temperature changes during shipping, or poorly executed sealing of the cap. Might be a simple fix of gorilla glue or something stronger, but for the price it would have been significantly better if it held up. Shame since the scabbard complements the sword quite well. One other thing to note (not so much a quality control as a preference) the pommel is rather hefty in proportion to the sword, so that takes getting used to. A tad odd for a somewhat one-handed sword. All complaints aside, a splendid Han sword otherwise. Definitely a favorite mantle peace to my Chinese heritage, the main reason I leaned towards it rather than a katana.

I got this because the blade pattern design is that of the famous King Goujian bronze sword. However I gave it 4 stars because it came un sharpened even though it was described as being sharpened ( I compared it to my other longquan sword which had been sharpened). Still could cut based on the shape of the blade (if used to chop at a soft target), but draw cuts would not do anything. I will eventually sharpen it myself though. Beyond that, the fit and finish is excellent and I plan to buy more swords from them.

Beautiful sword. Blade is moderately sharp, but can be honed more if desired. A very slight bend to the blade, but fully okay for a handforged blade. Blade decoration is nicely done.Gorgeous rosewood scabbard, partially wrapped in black cord, matching the black cord wrapping on the red-corded handle. Stylized Chinese dragons on the pommel and belt attachment hardware. All hardware is in a patinaed brasstone.The blade is very thick, but with two deep fullers on each flat side, balance is good, and the sword is handy to wield.Shipping took longer than it should, but that was no fault of LQ or Amazon. My several other LQ swords came on time. The wait was worth it. I am very happy!

Because of many questions to me about this product so far, I will say what I get. The good things are strong steel and pretty design. The bad things are no quality control and long shipment. My sword came in wet, so its cover was a little decayed on the upper part. The blade is not straight to its handle and can not be fixed. I bought it only for fun and got no fun at all.

Sword became loose after one use... Looks good but breaks easy
