Q: What do I sit on while using this peddler?

I have it at work and my primary work seat is a yoga ball so that is what I sit on most of the time but I have also used a traditional desk chair.

Q: I'm thinking about purchasing this for my cube in a fairly quiet office. Does this make a lot of noise?

We got our first one just over a year ago after my wife was in a bad accident recommended by her OT. My wife uses it for about an hour a day. It was pretty quiet for about 8-9 months after which it started squeaking most of the time. A couple weeks ago the pedal crankshaft horizontal bar between the pedals broke in two and I ordered a replacement which started squeaking after 1-2 weeks. I have not been able to find any advice on lubricating/NOT.

Q: does it come assembled?

Yes, it comes assembled. Only one word of caution, the metal does get hot sometimes as Warning states on the peddler. I use this every night at home while sitting on the couch. I love it! In fact, am using it now. :)

Q: Does this have different levels of resistance?

The resistance adjustment does not have discrete detent stops. It is continuously adjustable, like the flame control on a gas stove. When I adjusted the resistance hand knob to a low level of torque, I observed that it caused the axle to become warm after only 90 secs of moderate speed arm cycling. This is because the resistance bolt quickly generates heat via friction.
