A poorly executed spin-off title for the series.
I am someone who loves the spin-off titles Resident Evil Outbreak and Outbreak File#2 and thinks they are among the most underrated titles in the Resident Evil franchise, but Dead Aim is a very weak game. First of all, the presentation of the game is horrible - graphics are ugly, characters look very cartoony, and the music is terrible. It just sounds like somebody downloaded a free piece of software and thumped some buttons to pass off as a soundtrack. I have a hard time believing that this game came out about the same time as the first RE: Outbreak, which has beautiful graphics and gorgeously animated characters and a stirring and emotional soundtrack with some amazing cut scenes. The two main characters of dead Aim look like a cheap knock off of Leon Kennedy and Ada Wong from the main series, and the villain is some sort of hermaphrodite that turns into an electric version Alexia from Code Veronica. As for the actual gameplay, controls are simple but clunky when using the controller (maybe it was more fluid with the mouse or handgun device, which I never tried on PS2) thankfully most of the enemies in the game move at a snail's pace so you have plenty of time to aim correctly without wasting too much ammo. The story is also lacking. There is no build up to what is happening throughout the game - you literally start off on a ship with a load of dead bodies and the main hero confronting the main villain. an explosion separates them and they spend the rest of the entire game chasing each other. The cut scenes are some of the most dull and uninspiring ever seen in a Resident Evil game. There are moments where you think your character has been killed in an explosion, but they haven't and you don't see how they escaped the explosion, it just plays along without filling in any gaps.As for good points about the game, I'd say the lighting is quite effective. there are wide open areas draped in darkness and you can't always see the zombies - you have to look carefully for a shadow shuffling in the distance. There are plenty of jumpy moments as well to keep the player on their toes. There is a mix of fast paced and slow paced action. Sadly the game just is not as immersive as a more traditional RE game. I haven't tried playing in a higher difficulty mode, so the harder mode may give a more extensive experience (there are certain doors I couldn't open in the easiest mode with no indication about how to unlock them - this occurred a lot in the Outbreak games, and the only way to access them was to play in a higher difficulty setting, so maybe the same applies to Dead Aim)Anyway, that's pretty much all I've got to say about Dead Aim. If you haven't tried it yet, don't feel like you're missing out on much. Capcom decided to revisit the oceanic setting in the more recent Resident Evil Revelations, which is a bit more engaging than Dead Aim. If you are a fan of Revelations, and fancy playing a prototype version, then feel free to dive in.

Preciso e puntuale
