All music fans need this in their collection
For me Sabbath are the best band full stop. As a rock and metal fan of 40 years having bought and listened to countless number of l.p. s and cd s over the years. I have recently returned to Ozzy Geezer Iommi and Ward .again . Why? This double cd collection reminds me of Sabbaths depth of music far beyond the obvious big riffs and classic songs that most metal or rock fans will know. Sabbath I had amost forgotten remain the pinnacle of what powerful rock music should be. Power in the guitar work, power in the sheer buzz and deeper emotional hit you get from their music. Geezer lyrics are another delight. Far deeper and wiser than you might imagine .The two discs in this fine collection contain so many highlights it's literally an embarrassment of riches for any fan. The quieter guitar pieces offer nice contrast to some of the famous doomy tracks. Sabbath were an amazing mix of big riffs , powerful drumming, Ozzy s unique haunting vocals and sheer song writing class that makes them a national treasure and arguable yes the best ever rock band.

Fine but not Fantastic
Black Sabbath are not fine. They are fantastic. In my opinion they are the greatest band that have ever roamed the planet. They are colossal. Some of their songs are better than others as is the case with all bands but the idea of a 'best of' album is to collect the best songs and unite them on one offering. Do songs like 'The Wizard', 'Wicked World', 'Planet Caravan', 'Electric Funeral', 'Lord of this World', 'Am I Going Insane(Radio)', 'Never Say Die' and 'Hard Road' merit their place on a 'best of' opus ahead of 'Wheels of Confusion', 'After Forever', 'Neon Knights', 'Cornucopia', 'St. Vitus Dance', 'Under the Sun', 'Children of the Sea' and 'The Mob Rules'?The contribution Ronnie James Dio made to the band has not been adequately explored and the enormous influence that Vol.4 had on the band's reputation has barely been recognised. For me, a third of the songs on this album could have been replaced with better songs from Black Sabbath's incredible catalogue of headshakers. The Best of Black Sabbath should have been an indisputable 5 out of 5, but with so many classic omissions it doesn't quite get there. Make no mistake this is a very good CD, it just doesn't do true justice to the mighty legend of Black Sabbath.

Great collection of doom-laden, sometimes bluesy, heavy metal.
A very good collection of songs of a very important originator in the musical genre of heavy metal. This has a nice selection of rocking numbers from various albums, and also some of their quieter prettier numbers.Mainly concentrates on Ozzy era songs, with a couple of Dio numbers that provide a nice change (to myself as I already own various albums and collections of Sabbath concentrating on the Ozzy lineup). There's lots of angry-and-mournful almost protest songs that reflect the Sabs' background in the industrial city of Birmingham. I highly recommend this as a great introduction to the Black Sabbath catalogue. On a personal note, IMHO I prefer to hear B.S mixed in with other rock acts - mp3 players help here- as there's only so much doomy rock I like to hear at one time YRMV.

One of the most classic rock albums.
I cannot stress how good this album is and Blach Sabbath seem to be the route of all metal. I had already heard tracks like Paranoid, War Pigs and Iron Man which were amazing but now I like stuff like Snowblind, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath. All the tracks on there I've listened to so far have all been rather good. If you like this then you may like other stuff I've brought. Look at reviews. It has some very old to new tracks before Ozzy Osbourne left to go solo but he was much better in Black Sabbath.Give them a listen and see what you think but I doubt you will be disappointed with this if you love rock and metal everyone.

Great vinyl both in material quality and finishing as well as music
Great compilation of Black Sabbath works that could well find its place on die hard (for those lazy Sunday listening sessions) as well as not so seasoned listeners (as a good collection of Black Sabbath works)
