Sadly, No Good For Fountain Pens
Given the description, I thought this would be appropriate for fountain pen use, but sadly it isn't. It has a nice design, and it looks lovely. The colour (I got the navy one) is gorgeous and the ivory paper is very pleasing to the eye as well. The design - with dots on one side and lines on the other - is interesting and innovative. However, I don't see the point of the pages being perforated. Logically, when you use the notebook, the drawings/sketch/musings on the dot paper (left side) match the writing on the lined paper (right side). So when you tear out a sheet, you've got notes from one 'set' and the sketch from another 'set'. Doesn't make sense to me.It also doesn't take too well to gel rollerball. I have several Retro 51s with Schmidt P8120 refills and I've tested them all on this paper (see pics). There's no bleed through, but there's definitely shadowing on the reverse side. It takes a Uniball Fine okay (but there's still some shadowing on the reverse, especially with the darker colours) and it takes Muji pens well. It seems that the finer the line, the better the paper takes it. But that does kind of limit your creativity with the notebook, imo.Fountain pen inks I've tested on the paper are J Herbin, Noodlers, Robert Oster and Diamine. Nib widths from F to OB. Fountain pens used were Parker, Tombow, Lamy, Waterman, Conklin, TWSBI, Noodlers and Visconti. So I've given it a thorough testing all told. To be fair, there was less bleed through using a TWSBI Eco with a Fine nib and a light ink (Herbin's Bleu Pervenche). So I reckon a F or EF nib with a VERY light ink would work on this paper - something like Herbin Diabolo Menthe or Diamine Sepia. If you like to write with bright colours, dark colours or highly saturated inks (like the Noodler's), then don't bother. Your notes will end up looking like a demented schoolboy's doodle book.If it could take a fountain pen, this would be a great notebook. The almost B5 size is a good size - smaller than A4 and bigger than A5. I'd say it was a poor man's Leuchtterm, because the colour ways are strikingly similar. The Leuchtterm B5 Compositional is about £17 and, if you don't write with fountain pens, this would be a cheaper alternative at £12. But it's fussy, you know? This is a Goldilocks notebook - you have to find just the right pen for it.I did, finally. The paper takes Sakura pen very well, along with Faber-Castell Pitt artists pens (even the brush), so I use the notebook as a Zentangle journal: I do the Zentangle on the dot paper and write the journal (alas, not with a fountain pen) on the lined side.

Fantastic Notebooks For College/University
I’d like to start off by saying that I love these notebooks.PAIPUR have made use of recycled materials making these notebooks more environmentally friendly. Also shows that PAIPUR are an environmentally conscious company so that’s a big positive for me.The notebooks also come with a soft leather/pleather cover just adding to the feel and quality of the notebooks which is a nice touch. Thumbs up for that. The paper quality itself is fantastic as it feels soft and easy to write on. I mainly make use of ball point pens which seem to work excellently on the paper.Making notes in lectures and maths class has never been more satisfying (I’m not joking!).Each page alternates in use; on one page there is a grid square setup if you are needing to make notes or draw diagrams for physics/mathematics and the opposite side being a more traditional lined page.At the rear of the notebook also sits a small folder where you can place loose notes in. I currently have some fairly large workbooks from college thrown into them of A4 size. They are fifty-six pages long and I have folded the book in half, effectively doubling the width of the workbook, and there is still room to spare where I can actually get two more workbooks in that space. There are also couple of basic utility features that this notebook has that again help in note taking. You get a small piece of ribbon to mark the current notes you are reviewing or to mark your latest place in the notebook. Also an elastic strap to hold the notebook together and stop it opening up in your bags.To conclude; I believe if you purchase these notebooks by PAIPUR that you will not be disappointed in the quality of your purchase.Pros:Recycled materials utilisedSturdy leather/pleather coverPaper quality is excellentSmall utility features are appreciated and usefulCons:None found thus farPlease note that this is my own honest opinion.I will be continuing to use these notebooks and will update my review if I discover any issues. However I highly doubt any issues will arise.

The paper DOES BLEED with fineliners
I got this notebook as it wasn't supposed to bleed- unfortunately with fineliners, or any nice liquid ballpoint pen, it does bleeds just as bad as the rest.Even so, I still use this notebook. The paper qualit is nice, the book is nice and sturdy, and it's brilliant having large pages with both dots and lines. (I draw a calendar on the dots side and to do on the line side) for any organising that needs mixed paper, this is great. The rip out pages come in very handy, and I've never had one rip off seam. If you use normal ballpoint pens there isn't any bad bleed, and honestly the book is so nice that was the option I went with rather then continue the search for a bleed proof notebook.

Quality notebook, perfect even for stationery geeks!
As a notebook aficionado, I look for quality paper, pale well-spaced lines, a soft cover, an elastic closure and a big dollop of hard-to-pin-down, makes-you-want-to write stationery bliss. These notebooks deliver on all fronts, and even come with an additional bookmark elastic - very useful. The alternate, dotty pages are innovative and perfect for mind-mapping, doodling and sketching, whilst I reckon the paper will take the scratchiest pen - though, of course, I am saving them for use with my best, smooth writers. I have the orange, black and pale blue (yes, I am a stationery addict) and they are all perfect - immediately I need three new projects so that I can use all three books at once. Last but not least, these books are a little bit bigger than your run-of-the-mill a5 affair, and they have a storage compartment stucked away neatly at the back. Writers, teachers, note-takers, tablet-eschewers, people who want to look cool on trains - do not hesitate! And if you're buying as a gift, the slip cover package adds a very classy touch which is unexpected at this price.
