great for kids
I had heard about these types of ear cleaners from a book about bath things. I have also traveled to Japan and i am simply amazed at the ingenuity that the Japanese have for "gadgets"! I was glad to find these on Amazon. As for the item, i like that i can reuse the picks and clean them with an alcohol soaked cotton ball. The two sticks are different in color, making it easy to differentiate for multiple members. By the way the little puff balls on the ends seem to be decorative, not actually meant to be used for anything. This item is also a must for those individuals who are all about conservation and minimizing garbage generation. My kids and husband are heavy ear wax generators and over time we have to deal with "wax balls" and water in the ear issues. I thought this method of ear cleaning might mitigate our issues. So far so good!

Not a Japanese product as packaging may lead to believe...
I made this purchase thinking that, because of the packaging, this was a Japanese earpick set. Unfortunately, these are made in China and the quality of the cut and finish are really not up to par.For one, the units I received were much too thick in the 'scoop' tip. This is usually the case with cheaper bamboo that can't be cut as thinly and still retain structural rigidity. The edges were also sharp, and created a lot of discomfort when contacting the inner walls of the ear the wrong way. These will do in a pinch, as the authentic Japanese ones are a bit hard to find. I wouldn't rely on these long term though, as they really seem less safe and just more uncomfortable to use. After you try using both varieties, you will see where I'm coming from.

an alternative to q-tips
I discovered these while living in Japan, where Q-tips aren't all that popular. These area actually a really good way to clean your ears (i.e., scrape wax out), without the risk of pushing more wax in as you do with a Q-tip. Probably not safe for kids under 10 or so, as they require a steady hand, but can be used by an adult on children. They also last forever as they're made of bamboo.

A little bit pricey, but it IS from Japan.
I've always thought mimikaki (or Japanese ear pick) were way better to use than cotton swabs. Only problem is that the end gets a little moist after using it for awhile, even after cleaning it, but that's okay. This works great!

Beware...overprice "Made in China" earpicks
I don't know where do the reviewers get the idea of these ear picks are made in Japan. The quality is about the same as what I can get from any Asian stores. I bought this is because of reaching the minimum purchase for free shipping. "Made in China" is printed on the back of the package. Other than having a few Japanese words printed on the front of the package, there's no indication of these ear picks are made in Japan. Will never purchase anything from this seller ever again. Buyer beware!

essential for personal hygiene.... if you're Asian.
I'm Asian and have the DRY ear wax. Not the wet sticky stuff everyone else on the planet has so this comes in handy big time!

It is not really a Ear picker, I am really sure this is a ear cleaner.
