Perhaps it can be fixed??
Nice kettle - but it stopped working all of a sudden - as some have mentioned before. The good news is that it can probably be fixed - i found the tiny connector in the base had become caught out of reach of the corresponding connector on the kettle. See the picture - there should be two little "feet" within the outer and middle grooves. To try this, UNPLUG the base, and look into the rings to see if one of the receptive feet/tabs is misplaced. If so, you may be able to fiddle it back into place with a pin - or if needed you can remove the bottom plate - by taking out the screws (a corner of a flat screw driver will open these three edged screws easily, then start the central plastic portion loose at the cable, and then wiggle a flat screw driver in the rectangular holes that have little retaining flaps - sounds complicated but it isn't. You will then be able to see the connectors inside and push them back into place with a screwdriver. And there it is - the blue light is on again!

Trying to determine the lead content if any
update ... on off switch broke after a little more than year of use.Friends doctor said to be cautious of this ceramic as it may contain lead.It is important to inform the public about this health risk since, as O’Malley stated, “Lead poisoning is especially harmful to young children because it affects their developing central nervous system and can cause serious problems like learning difficulties, developmental delays, brain damage or even death.” He added, “Perhaps not as devastating for adults, lead poisoning can still lead to significant health problems like kidney damage and anemia.”In an effort to raise awareness among people who may have been affected by lead in the ceramic cookware, O’Malley, along with his crew of Jefferson medical students are working with the Chinatown Health Clinic to conduct a mass screening of the community. In addition, they have alerted many shopkeepers of the possible health risks posed by those items.Theodore A. Christopher, MD, chair of Emergency Medicine at Jefferson, praised O’Malley’s work in conducting this study. “This is an important study that will heighten the awareness of lead contamination in many different sources,” he said. “It also confirms that medical professionals need to do a more in-depth job of assessing a patient’s social history and background, which may play a very important role in diagnosis of symptoms.”

BEST electric teapot I have ever owned
BEST electric teapot I have ever owned! I have been looking for an electric teapot with no plastic for so long that I had almost given up. I saw a ceramic one at a friend's house, but did not like how heavy it was. I found this teapot on Amazon and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be much lighter than my friend's teapot and large enough for when people come over for tea. I love it! There were no smells when I bought it and no visible plastic inside or on the lid. Even if it only lasts a year, it is worth its weight in gold.

Very pretty just not exactly white.
Very pretty and well made. The only thing is it’s not bright white as expected. It’s a light cream. Even the cord it white in comparison. Not a deal breaker and am keeping it but wish it was really white.

The kettle is beautiful and very nice quality
This kettle is beautiful and very nice quality. It looks so pretty sitting on my counter. It is a little heavy but that is because it is ceramic and not plastic like the one I had before. I love the little blue light, and the kettle works quickly and quietly. Now that I have used this for awhile, I can honestly say I wouldn’t buy any other kettle. I especially love that it is ceramic and not plastic.

Has developed a chemical smell
Loved this kettle at first. Well made of porcelain and gets hot quickly, stays hot longer than steel. After a few months I started noticing a chemical smell from the heated water. At first I thought that my son may have used tap water with chlorine in the kettle, but the small persisted and even got a little stronger. The smell may be harmless but I won't take any chances. Unfortunately I cannot use this any longer.
