Warren Cutlery Basic Carving Kit

A well made inexpensive kit suitable for getting started or travel. The blades come well machined taking only a bit of stropping to get ready to use. The steel appears to be good quality and holds an edge well. This kit comes with one thicker blade and the rest smaller and thinner. I like the thick blade very much. The thinner blades are ok, but not as sturdy as I would wish, but for the price a good starting point. The handle works pretty well, but it tends to loosen a bit on me after several minutes of use and needs fairly constant attention. I wish the knurled nut was larger or had a hex on it to make it easier to get just a bit more initial tension to hold the blade firmly. There are several styles of the thicker blades available for only a few dollars on the Warren web site. It's a great way, I think, to get some nice carving blades of good steel to get going or for those on a budget.

Handle cannot securely hold the gouges, the top gets tight but the end is loose and moves that makes it useless for gouges.

Warren tools makes the finest carving knives—would give more than five stars.

Works great for woodcarving. Needs the wrench in the kit. Not my go to choice but helps in different areas that i cant use a regular carving knife.

fine knife set for carving. I'd like to have been able to pick which blades I really wanted but I'm trying all of them....nice and sharp. the handle is pretty comfortable to hold.

Very sharp blades and a very comfortable handle. This is a great beginning set and I am sure I will be ordering many more blades to add to it.
