WHAT A WONDERFUL COMBO!
I LOVE this product! While I was doing a 12 week stretch of Physical Therapy for my back, my therapist had me use one similar one, so I could reach and work out all 11 of the trigger points in my upper back, that tend to go into spasm regularly. He told me I could find them on Amazon, so I went home and found this product combination, and bought it! I also love the ball that comes with it for when my sciatic nerve acts up. It works very well to relieve the pain! And the message roller is great for my neck, and for when I get cramps in my feet at night! I only wish I had found these 27 years ago!

Ohgodthisisterrific. There you go, my review in one word.Okay, some more below if you need the deets.Let's get the extra pieces out of the way: the roll-y stick is whatever - it works as an easy way to rub down your thighs gently when you're sitting, but you're not doing anything compared to a foam roller and a nice area of floor space. I guess two days after your brutal leg day (without any recovery the day after, because you're silly/irresponsible/hating-yourself like that) it is a gentle touch for easing yourself into the real work you need to do with the foam roller, but it's really not much. The foot massage ball - look, the main reason I got the package with these two extra things was to see if such a stick was worthwhile, and to see if hard spiky ball here was any better than a lacrosse ball. Yes. Yes it is. This made the package worth it to me. A lacrosse ball works well enough, no argument there, and I would only pick up spiky ball if you find it cheap and/or are feeling splurge-y or have foot problems, but the spiky, VERY hard ball works the bottom of the foot like no other. Thing is, that is where it's uses are limited, the lacrosse ball can be used EVERYWHERE else, the spiky ball is a one trick pony. But my god does it do it well. I start every day at work with this at my standing desk before I put my work shoes on. Yep, if you have sensitive feet, you're going to want to be very gentle. But here's the thing, you only have sensitive feet because you've been wearing shoes since your were 10 months old, and the nerves in your feet don't know how to handle THESE SENSATIONS. I was in the same boat, no judging here, I have had dainty, cement's too hot, is-that-a-rock-I-see-ahead-screw-this feet most of my life. Gently getting them back to their natural use is a slow process but extremely helpful.Okay, main event: the Body Back Buddy is the best thing I've ever used for trigger point self massage ever, period. That's it. Lacrosse ball is a nice backup, especially if you have a floor to moan around on, but this joke-inducing, har-har-it-looks-like-an-adult-toy blessing from the halls of gods is the absolute best solution for anyone without a personal physical therapist on a leash attached to their hip. There's pictures and videos for how to use it, but honestly the best technique is just playing with it, moving the pokey bits around into the hurt-y bits until something feels terrible/amazing. It's easy to see this and think it looks weird, and how the heck did someone design this randomly shaped thing, and look that's a penis shape, but my god within 10 minutes you're convinced in what had must be genuine, thoughtful, development through many hours of beta testing to get this thing to do what it does. You always have a way to hit a spot with either a rounder or sharper bit, and have a handle or two to hold on to for getting the forces right. The S-curve is the secret sauce that makes most of this work, but EVERY knob and handle is useful, always in the RIGHT place, and that's the spice that makes it beautiful. I've effectively used this on my back and shoulders, rib cage, hip flexors, feet, calves, neck, and most importantly my current chronic hurt, my forearms - all sides, flexors and extensors, elbow area, and triceps. Maybe I'll update this review later with how I use it for there. It hits spots so much easier than a ball, and with much more force - because I'm not just relying on the force and endurance of my other arm, but rather pushing my weight down on it, or using my foot to push it away to dig in. Eh, maybe I'll actually do a quick video tutorial for this.I guess my only suggestion might be to NOT get this black color, but instead the blue/purple. The gym I frequent already had the blue, so I went for this. The two disadvantages to the color: it fits the sex-toy look even a bit more, and, more importantly, black blends in with shadows, so it doesn't stand out to you as readily when it's sitting on the floor, living room table, couch, etc. And you SPECIFICALLY keep it there so you remember to do some rehab to your chronically sore parts after dinner, while watching your cartoons, and with the purple one the lighter color and odd shape immediately catches your eye and reminds you, oh right, I need to get on this if I'm ever to get rid of this wrist problem....
