This remote control device is really cool and works like a charmTo test it I plugged one of the 5 outlets into a wall outlet in a second-floor bedroom at the far end of this two-story house, plugged a table lamp into it and turned the lamp on. I then went downstairs to the other end of the house and pressed the “off” button” on the remote. I went up to check and the light was off.To confirm I repeated the test, except this time I turned the light “on” from downstairs.Then, though not expecting it work, I went down into the basement and tried again. It worked, which I thought quite amazing, the signal passing through 2 floors and several walls.But there is a downside, Once a lamp or other device is plugged into one of these outlets you can only turn it on and off with the remote. If you don’t have the remote with you it is necessary to uplug the device from the outlet and plug it into the wall outlet.These outlets and the remote are plug and play, so to speak. They start working immediately. The instructions tell you how to reprogram them if for some reason you want to do that, but nothing needs to be done to begin using them They are ready for duty when you remove them from the box.The instructions that come with outlets are not really instructions, since they don’t tell you how to use the outlets. But there isn’t much that needs to be told. Just plug an outlet into a wall outlet, plug a device into it and turn it on. Then when you want to turn that device on or off just press the appropriate button for the same number, 1-5, printed on the outlet. I do think, however, it would be wise to include that on the instruction sheet.I always think it would be helpful to have two remotes, or at least be told on the instruction sheet how to obtain a second remote if desired.

These are nifty little plugs. I was able to program two of them to be used with one remote button to use on lamps that are plugged behind my bed. talk about convenient! Another one I use for my Subwoofer on my surround as its powered separately from the system. They are easy to reprogram and the provided instructions are very clear! One of my plugs (#3) did not function past the first use, I contacted the company and they were MORE than helpful in resolving my issue. I will be purchasing from this company again.
