Gets the job done
I bought this shielded cable because I was having a noise issue when my mixing console was plugged into my PC and thought an insulated cable would help. It certainly helped a little bit but it turned out the noise was coming from elsewhere. Either way, it is a solid cable that does a perfectly cromulent job of connecting my mixer to my PC so I can make music.

This item is amazing!!!!
Excellent product. I ordered this USB 2.0 cable yesterday and it was waiting for me at the front door of my house this morning.I needed this cable for an old HP Personal Media Drive that still functions; but needed a new cable. As soon as I connected the cable to my computer everything synched up with ease.Best of all is the price of this product can't be beat. I bought the longer cable just to be on the safe side.

A happy customer
This cable was received quickly, was a great length, and my older reliable HP printer was revived at a very reasonable price, and I am grateful for that! I would recommend this item for others.

Reliable, Long-Reach Cable for Printers and Audio Interfaces
I picked up the Amazon Basics USB-A to USB-B 2.0 Cable (16-foot version) to connect my printer across the room from my computer desk without needing to rearrange furniture or use unreliable wireless printing. I also tested it with my audio interface (Focusrite Scarlett 2i2) for home recording. After using it for several weeks in both office and studio setups, this cable has proven to be a solid, affordable performer with dependable connectivity and surprising versatility. How I Used ItInitially, I needed a cable long enough to reach from my desktop PC to an older HP LaserJet printer positioned on the far end of my workspace. The stock 3-foot USB cable just didn’t cut it, and Wi-Fi printing was laggy and unreliable. I plugged this 16-foot cable in and it worked immediately—no drops, no setup issues. Later, I swapped it over to my USB 2.0 audio interface to test latency and data integrity for music recording. Again, it performed flawlessly with zero hum or interference.ProsLong Reach with No Signal Loss: At 16 feet, this cable easily covers long distances without requiring a USB hub or extension. I experienced no lag, dropouts, or data errors during printing or recording.Thick, Durable Insulation: The cable is surprisingly sturdy. It feels solid in hand, with reinforced stress points at the connectors. I’ve accidentally stepped on it a few times, and it shows no damage or kinks.Gold-Plated Connectors: The USB-A and USB-B ends are gold-plated for better corrosion resistance and signal clarity. While I didn’t notice a performance difference, it’s reassuring for long-term reliability.Plug-and-Play Simplicity: Whether used with a printer, external hard drive, or audio device, the cable required no setup—just plug in and go. Windows recognized devices instantly.Universal Compatibility: Worked perfectly with both my HP printer and Focusrite Scarlett interface. USB 2.0 speeds are ideal for these devices, and backward compatibility is a plus.Affordable Price Point: For a cable of this length and build quality, the price is very reasonable—especially when compared to name-brand alternatives that cost twice as much for similar performance.ConsNot USB 3.0: It’s a USB 2.0 cable, so don’t expect super-fast data transfer rates. For printing or audio interfaces, it’s more than sufficient, but not ideal for high-speed external drives.Stiffness at Longer Length: Because it’s 16 feet long, the cable has a bit of stiffness and doesn’t flex easily around corners. Some cable management may be needed for a cleaner look. Not Braided: The outer coating is basic PVC, not braided nylon. It’s still durable, but lacks the premium feel and added tangle-resistance of braided cables.ComparisonsCompared to the Cable Matters USB 2.0 Printer Cable (10 feet), the Amazon Basics version is longer and cheaper without sacrificing quality. Versus Monoprice or Belkin cables, this one has similar durability at a lower cost, though premium brands may offer better shielding for high-interference environments. It doesn’t match the speed of a USB 3.0 cable, but for its intended uses—printers, MIDI controllers, or audio gear—it’s perfect.Tips for BuyersMeasure Before Ordering: 16 feet is a generous length—double-check your setup before buying to avoid unnecessary cable clutter. Amazon also offers shorter versions if needed.Avoid Tight Bends: Let the cable curve naturally when routing it around furniture or walls. This will prevent unnecessary wear over time.Use for Audio Interfaces: If you’re a home studio user, this is an excellent low-cost alternative to “pro” branded cables for connecting your audio interface to a desktop PC.Label the Ends: In a crowded workspace, adding a simple label to the cable ends helps you trace your setup quickly—especially helpful when moving gear around.Who Should Buy This? This cable is ideal for home office users, musicians, or anyone needing a longer, reliable USB-A to USB-B connection—especially for printers, external hard drives, or recording equipment. If you need dependable performance over longer distances without the premium price tag, this is one of the best budget-friendly options available.Overall, the Amazon Basics 16-foot USB-B cable offers excellent value and performance. It’s not fancy, but it gets the job done without fuss—and that’s exactly what you want in a cable like this. Recommended for anyone needing a long, stable USB 2.0 connection.

Good purchase. Works great, and appreciate having the extra length.
I purchased this 16 foot long USB-A to USB-B so called printer cable to install a new printer. It was recommended I install the printer using a wired connection rather than wirelessly to make sure all the needed software and updates actually got installed ok, which I guess people had been having some problems with when trying to set up this particular printer wirelessly. I am not sure I honestly chose the best option for the installation though, as the new printer works great, but only if this Amazon cable remains connected to both the printer and my laptop. Disconnect it and there is no printing whatsoever at the moment, but that is a different problem.I did actually purchase the longer cable length because of those concerns about wireless printing, and I am glad I did, as at least I do not have to be standing holding a laptop right next to the printer in order for it to print, and I can at least stretch the cable out into a different room up to 16 feet away. The printer cable got quite a work out yesterday, as I was rushing to print out a large and lengthly file that needs to be mailed out this weekend. The cable's connections to both my printer and my computer were tight and held well. The cord did not accidentally disconnect at either end because I stretched the new cord out as far as it would reach. Because my computer uses USB-C and has no USB-A port, the one end of the printer cord actually had to first be connected to a USB-A to USB-C cord, then finally connected to the computer. The cord itself is very flexible, and not at all stiff, making to easy to stretch out completely flat going in any direction. Overall, if I ever needed another one, I would not hesitate to purchase it again, as it is well made.
